Since its establishment in December 2015, the Academy of Chinese Classics in China West Normal University is dedicated to research, undergraduate and graduate education, and the promotion and dissemination of Chinese classical studies. The academy brings together top faculty from disciplines such as literature, history, philosophy, archaeology, and the arts. Many of its faculty members are involved in both teaching and research through a dual appointment system, while the academy actively engages in academic exchanges and collaborations both in China and abroad, contributing significantly to regional cultural development.

The academy has recently launched several research initiatives, including projects such as the "Chinese Classics Research Library" and the "Bashu and Dunhuang Library." It also collaborates with the "Sichuan Ancient Literature Specialized Documents Research Team" to publish academic journals. In terms of teaching, the academy offers Chinese classical studies courses to undergraduates across the university, enrolls master's students in Chinese classics, trains teachers for primary and secondary schools, and provides classical studies services to businesses and organizations.

With a history of over 70 years, China West Normal University has a strong tradition in the teaching and research of Chinese classics. Prominent scholars such as Wu Feibai, Li Bingying, and Li Yuancheng have made significant contributions to the development of the field at the university. In recent years, the academy has upheld the rigorous academic standards of its predecessors, while integrating the unique cultural characteristics of the region, thereby establishing its own distinctive research focus and scholarly style.
