The College of Environmental Science and Engineering at China West Normal University was established in 2015, formed from the Environmental Science Department of the College of Life Sciences and the Environmental Engineering Department of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. As a key base for undergraduate talent development in Sichuan Province, the college is dedicated to cultivating well-rounded professionals in environmental science and engineering who meet the demands of socialist modernization.

The college hosts several research institutes, including the Institute of Environmental Science, the Institute of Environmental Engineering, and a Demonstration Center for Experimental Teaching. It boasts a highly qualified faculty with strong ethical values and research expertise.

The college has made significant strides in scientific research, undertaking over 20 national and provincial projects and establishing 14 research platforms, including a national eco-environmental science base. These platforms not only provide essential support for research activities but also inject new energy into teaching and talent cultivation. The college actively encourages students to participate in research projects and competitions, earning 247 awards at provincial and national levels, including first and second prizes in the China Undergraduate Life Sciences Contest (Innovation and Entrepreneurship).

The college currently offers a master's degree program in Environmental Science and Engineering and three undergraduate majors: Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, and Environmental Ecological Engineering. With nearly 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled, both the Environmental Science and Environmental Engineering programs have been recognized as first-class programs at the provincial level.(By Yang Hui and Jiang Ai)
