In the golden autumn of October, an international sporting extravaganza that seamlessly blends speed and competition with the region's natural landscapes and cultural heritage is set to kick off in Bazhong, Sichuan. The 2026 China Micangdao International Road Cycling Race will get underway on October 11.

Micang Avenue

As a Category C international cycling event in China certified by the Chinese Cycling Association, the event capitalises on the unique ecological endowments of Micang Avenue and actively integrates with the "The Most Beautiful Red Leaf, The Most Beautiful Me" series of activities at the 24th Guangwu Mountain International Red Leaf Festival. By embedding a high-calibre international cycling competition within the scenic landscape of the millennia-old Micang Ancient Road, it uses sport as a unifying force to write a new chapter in Bazhong's integration of sport and tourism and its open development.

Micang Avenue

The event brings together 14 professional teams from 10 countries, including China, and features five competition categories.

The course winds its way along Micang Avenue, following the contours of the mountains. To date, the organising committee has carried out eight rounds of full-route reconnaissance, identifying and rectifying 12 risk points, and has meticulously refined this mountain course to meet both professional competitive standards and aesthetic appeal.

Hosting a high-calibre sporting event is not merely a simple sporting occasion, but a comprehensive test of a city's integrated governance capabilities. From track surveys, safety measures and traffic management to the enhancement of the surroundings along the route, volunteer services and guidance on civilised spectating, all departments have worked in coordination and carried out meticulous preparations to establish a comprehensive safety framework for the event. On the day of the event, traffic restrictions will be in place along the route, with official viewing points established at Guangwu Valley, Shenmen Station and the Linjiang Lixia junction, whilst live online streaming will also be available. Spectators from both home and abroad will be able to watch the event either in person or online, immersing themselves in the unique charm of "cycling along the Micang Avenue and discovering Guangwu Mountain".
