On 21 September, a lively harvest festival poetry recital, themed "Golden Ears of Corn Reflect the Verses: Celebrating the Harvest Through Poetry", took place at the Yunfeng Poetry Society in Yanjia Town, Luojiang District, Deyang City.

The event comprises four main sections: poetry recitals, on-the-spot poetry composition on a given theme, calligraphy, and poetry exhibitions. It places farmers at the very heart of the event, inviting them to come together amidst the fields and farmlands for a poetic celebration rooted in the countryside.

Beside the rice paddies, the resonant sounds of poetry drifted on the breeze. The poetry recital "Voices on the Waves of Rice" kicked off the programme, with farmer-poets taking to the stage one after another; they recited classic harvest-themed works by renowned poets, whilst also delivering heartfelt renditions of their own original compositions. The series of poems focused on scenes from the countryside in the new era, such as the construction of high-standard farmland, the operation of smart agricultural machinery and e-commerce supporting farmers. Transforming observations and reflections from the fields into lines of unadorned verse, the recitations gave voice to the sentiments of farmers in the new era. The audience listened with great interest, and applause rang out time and again.

As the recitation session drew to a close, the farmer-poets engaged in three rounds of impromptu composition, their pens flowing with the scent of the earth, sharing their poems on the spot as soon as they had finished writing. Following the event, these outstanding works created on the spot will be compiled into an anthology entitled 2026 Yunfeng Harvest Poems, preserving this poetic spirit of the harvest from the fields.

As brushstrokes and poetic sentiment blended together, the works created on the spot were immediately put on display, attracting many visitors and villagers who stopped to admire them and take photographs.
