Recently, the factory premises of Sichuan Danling County Ecological Source Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. have been a hive of activity, with workers meticulously sorting the harvested crisp red plums in strict accordance with export standards, removing substandard and misshapen fruit whilst retaining high-quality fresh fruit characterised by a symmetrical shape, bright colour and uniform ripeness. Following professional preservation, grading and packaging, this consignment of over 20,000 jin of Crisp Red Plums is now ready for dispatch and will soon be sold on the Vietnamese market.

Packing Crisp Red Plums

In recent years, Danling County has capitalised on its resource advantages to continuously cultivate and expand its distinctive fruit industry. At the same time, it has established export-registered production bases, strengthened quality control across the entire supply chain, and steadily opened up new export channels for agricultural produce. From crisp red plums to mandarins, Danling's high-quality, distinctive local fruits have been exported overseas with the necessary certifications. This has not only broadened sales channels for agricultural produce but has also significantly boosted the incomes of fruit growers.

In Meiwan Village, Qile Town, rows of standardised greenhouses—maintaining constant temperature and humidity—are neatly arranged; a subtle fragrance of orchids wafts from within, and over a thousand varieties of orchids are thriving. By utilising modern agricultural facilities, this centre has overcome the environmental constraints of orchid cultivation.

Caring for Orchids

Meiwan Village has been actively exploring a collaborative development model involving "the village collective, enterprises and farmers". The cultivation base covers 15 mu and comprises 28 greenhouses, where approximately 300,000 pots of orchids are cultivated. As orchid cultivation and maintenance involve numerous processes and require a significant labour force, the nursery gives priority to employing local workers, with annual labour costs amounting to approximately 1.5 million yuan. The village has also encouraged 21 farming households to participate in orchid cultivation; through the leasing of greenhouses and land transfers, the village collective generates an annual income of nearly 200,000 yuan.

Building on its resource advantages, Danling County has enabled the fragrance of its fresh local fruit to reach overseas markets and allowed its distinctive industries to take root in the local countryside, thereby jointly painting a new picture of industrial revitalisation for Danling.
