Recently, the thousand-ton-level pilot unit for sustainable aviation fuel production via carbon dioxide hydrogenation, jointly developed by Sichuan Golden Elephant Sincerity Co., Ltd. in Dongpo District, Meishan City in collaboration with the teams of Professors Wei Fei and Zhang Chenxi from Tsinghua University, successfully passed the authoritative 72-hour continuous operation assessment conducted by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF). This marks the readiness of this globally original core technology for industrial deployment and large-scale promotion.
From August 11th to 13th, the expert assessment team visited the production site and the intelligent control center to comprehensively verify the unit's operating conditions, process parameters, and quality control measures, and conducted closed-loop sampling, testing and verification. After comprehensive evaluation, the expert panel unanimously concluded that the pilot plant can achieve stable operation for synthesizing aviation fuel components from carbon dioxide hydrogenation. Its operating load, process parameters, and technical indicators all met the design requirements. The production remained stable during the calibration period, and key targets including overall CO₂ conversion rate, hydrogen consumption per unit, and methane selectivity were all achieved, successfully passing the calibration.
According to the company, this technology overcomes the feedstock bottleneck of producing green aviation fuel from waste oils and fats. Leveraging Meishan's mature chemical industry infrastructure, the project utilizes industrial by-product carbon dioxide and green hydrogen as raw materials to synthesize sustainable aviation fuel from CO₂ in a single step, using self-developed proprietary catalysts. This technology offers significant low-carbon benefits—every ton of green aviation fuel produced consumes 3.6 tons of industrial CO₂, truly turning greenhouse gases into valuable resources and enabling high-value circular utilization.
To date, the unit has completed over 2,000 hours of stable operation under industrial conditions. The output oil fully meets the national standard for No.3 Jet Fuel, successfully addressing the industry's persistent challenges of "scarce raw materials, high costs, and limited scale." It features notable advantages including controllable costs and easy scalability, and can also be integrated with wind power and photovoltaic green electricity resources.
