A Corner of the Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone
In recent years, the Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone has vigorously promoted the transformation of the automotive industry towards electrification, intelligence and connectivity. In 2025, the zone achieved a total vehicle production of 902,000 units, of which 221,000 were new energy vehicles, representing a year-on-year increase of 191.9%.
The Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone will adhere to a development strategy of “stabilizing conventional fuel vehicles whilst strengthening electric vehicles, enhancing intelligence and optimising quality, giving equal weight to vehicle assembly and parts production, and integrating industrial clusters and supply chains”, to accelerate the construction of an intelligent connected vehicle industry ecosystem. According to the plan, by 2026, the Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone’s vehicle production is set to exceed 950,000 units, with new energy vehicles accounting for over 40% of the total and the penetration rate of intelligent connected vehicle models reaching over 85%. By 2030, the zone aims to achieve a vehicle production target of 1.2 million units and a total industrial output value exceeding 180 billion yuan, thereby providing robust support for Chengdu’s development as a national advanced manufacturing base.
