Recently, during the 2026 Chengdu International Friendship Cities Cooperation and Development Conference, Chongzhou hosted a special session of the Chengdu-Europe Industrial Dialogue dedicated to Slovenia — the Chongzhou-Kočevje Economic and Trade Cooperation Symposium. At the event, Zheng Yu, Vice Mayor of Chongzhou city, and Gregor Košer, Mayor of Kočevje, jointly signed the “Agreement on Deepening Cooperation between Chongzhou and Kočevje”.

Under the agreement, the two sides will engage in five years of in-depth cooperation across the fields of culture, economy, tourism, sport and local governance, with a particular focus on promoting youth participation, and will establish a regular mechanism for information exchange and project support.

During the event, both sides held practical city and industry promotion sessions. Gregor Košer highlighted Kočevje’s natural endowments as an emerging European robotics hub, a base for advanced timber and chemical industries, and home to the Krokar Primeval Forest, a World Natural Heritage Site. Chongzhou city, meanwhile, promoted its developmental strengths as a core demonstration zone of the “Tianfu Granary” and a national demonstration base for new industrialisation. It showcased its robust foundations in industries such as electronic information, aerospace, the low-altitude economy and smart home technology, providing clear guidance for industrial cooperation between enterprises from both sides.

The event featured a special “one-to-one” networking session for businesses, during which nearly 30 companies from the two cities engaged in in-depth discussions on areas such as smart home technology, green manufacturing, advanced food processing and the low-altitude economy. An interactive DIY experience zone was also set up, incorporating elements of intangible cultural heritage such as Chongzhou bamboo weaving and Sichuan-style bonsai, which helped to foster a positive atmosphere for business exchanges.
