Culture and Tourism Boom: Chengdu’ s Jinjiang District Closes May Day Holiday with 4.4333 Million Visits

During this year's May Day holiday, the cultural and tourism market in Chengdu's Jinjiang District remained buoyant, welcoming a total of 4.4333 million visitors. Of these, the Chunxi Road Commercial District received 3.4591 million visitors, while the Sansheng Huaxiang Scenic Area welcomed 346,000 visitors. Furthermore, Jinjiang District recorded 8,769 international overnight visitor trips, a year-on-year increase of 141.30 per cent, ranking first in Chengdu city.

The holiday brought a wave of international faces to the city. Around Chunxi Road, blond-haired, blue-eyed visitors were a common sight at Taikoo Li Chengdu and Chengdu IFS. Inside streetwear boutiques, sneaker stores and cafés, a lively mix of English, French, Spanish and other languages could be heard at every corner.

The Sanse Road night market pulsed with energy and surging consumption, with daily visitor numbers topping 10,000. Stalls serving Zigong cuisine and seafood were so popular they could barely keep up with demand. At the market, the “Jincheng Youxi” (“Jincheng City Has Drama”) themed performance set up four music stages, where rock, electronic music, street dance and Sichuan opera face-changing took turns enthralling the crowd. Driven by this cultural boost, vendors saw sales jump dramatically, creating an integrated shopping and entertainment experience that blends dining, drinks, fun and entertainment into one dynamic experience.
