Recently, the China National Intellectual Property Administration released the list of candidates for the 2025–2027 National Intellectual Property Powerhouse Demonstration Program. Two companies located in Chenghua District, Chengdu—the China Power Engineering Consulting Group Southwest Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. and Chengdu Hongming Electronics Co., Ltd.—have been successfully selected.
It is reported that the selection of candidates for the National Intellectual Property Powerhouse Demonstration Program is conducted every three years starting from 2025, aiming to identify a group of leading and core enterprises with outstanding comprehensive performance in the creation, utilization, protection, and management of intellectual property.
The China Energy Engineering Group Southwest Electric Power Design Institute is a national high-tech enterprise equipped with multiple qualifications, including comprehensive Class A qualifications for engineering design. It holds 817 valid patents and 431 software copyrights and has developed nearly 300 national and industry standards. The institute has achieved over a hundred 'historical firsts' in the field of electric power engineering survey and design, securing substantial intellectual property achievements.
Founded in 1958, Hongming Electronics is a leading enterprise nurtured under the national key projects during the national "First Five-Year Plan" period. The company holds more than 1,300 valid patents and operates one national enterprise technology center, two national-level experiment centers, two academician workstations, six provincial-level technology research and development platforms, and one provincial-level postdoctoral innovation practice base. It is not only a national-level 'little giant' enterprise specializing in refined, distinctive, and innovative technologies, but also ranks among the top 100 enterprises in Sichuan Province for the number of invention patents. The company has been designated by the Sichuan Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission as a key-supported unit for the 'Original Technology Cradle' initiative in Sichuan Province.
