On the first day of Chinese New Year, the festivities began with a parade led by a Zhuangyuan, as participants ascended Mount Chonglong to pray for good fortune. The second day of the first lunar month featured Chinese chic, with ethereal Dunhuang flying dances and a concert blending traditional and modern styles setting the tone for the new year. The powerful Chaoshan Yingge dance team and Chinese animation characters like Nezha and Sun Wukong made debut performance on the street fair on the third day. The fourth day spotlighted traditional opera.
The fifth day of the first lunar month, known as Po Wu, literally meaning “breaking five” in Chinese folk culture, signifies the breaking away of past constraints and the arrival of a new and better life. On the fifth day, a procession honoring Guan Yu took place and five Fortune Gods accompanied by the Ox Lantern delivered blessings door to door. The final day concluded with an electrifying finale featuring DJ performances and rock music, bringing the temple fair to a vibrant close.
