Recently, thousands of mu of brassica (qing cai tou in Chinese) in Qianfeng Village, Zhongshan Town, Hongya County, Meishan City welcomed a bountiful harvest. It is reported that through contract farming, the village has transformed these ordinary ‘green lumps’ into ‘golden nuggets’ that increase farmers' incomes, creating a win-win situation for boosting farmer earnings, ensuring enterprise supply, and developing the industry.

"Brassica has a short cultivation cycle and requires low investment. We adopt a planting-breeding recycling model to reduce cultivation costs. At the same time, we finalized the crop varieties, quality standards, and purchase prices with enterprises in advance, clearly stating that 'as long as they meet the standards, everything will be purchased without price suppression.' This completely eliminated the villagers' concerns," said Fu Zhihong, the CCP Party Secretary of Qianfeng Village.

In 2025, relying on specialized cooperatives, Qianfeng Village reached in-depth cooperation with brassica purchasing enterprises, implementing a contract farming model of "enterprise + cooperative + farmer." Currently, the village's brassica cultivation area has expanded to over 1,200 mu, with a total output reaching 2,000 tons and an output value exceeding 1.2 million yuan.
The practice of Qianfeng Village is a microcosm of the vigorous development of contract farming in Hongya County. In recent years, the county has leveraged contract farming as an important tool to deepen the structural reform of the agricultural supply side. Based on local conditions, it has built an industrial development system of ‘specialty agricultural products + enterprises + farmers,’ promoting agriculture's shift from ‘growing well’ to ‘selling well.’ Currently, the county's contract farming covers industries such as tea, bamboo, pepper, dairy, medicinal herbs, grain and oil, and vegetables, with the cultivation area for contracted products exceeding 50,000 mu.
