During the event, the 2025 Global Sports Cities Index and the 2025 China Sports Cities Index were released. Chengdu has entered the global top 50 for the first time.
2025 Global Sports Cities Index (GSCI)
The index has been published four years in a row. Recognized for its scientific evaluation framework and academic backgroung, it has gained widespread acceptance and attention from various industries and fields, serving as an important reference for measuring sports development in cities globally and within China.
2025 China Sports Cities Index (CSCI)
Chengdu is ranked 47th globally in the index of 2025. It was stated that Chinese cities delivered a particularly impressive performance, with five cities including Chengdu making it into the global top 50. The improvement compared to previous years has demonstrated that the comprehensive strength of Chinese cities in event operations, sports industry ecosystem development, public sports services and so on has gained broad international recognition.
In addition to sports development of global city , the 2025 China Sports Cities Index was also released. Chengdu ranked 4th and the position remained unchanged from last year.
