On October 16, the opening ceremony of the 2025 Fifth “Bashan Shushui • Sports in Sichuan-Chongqing” Sports Tourism and Leisure Consumption Season, along with Zigong's 15th City Games and 12th Senior Games, was held in Zigong City.
The Opening Ceremony
Guided by the themes “Bashan Shushui • Sports in Sichuan-Chongqing” and “Leisure Zigong • Enjoying Sports”, the event not only provided an integrated experience of sports, culture, and tourism for residents of Sichuan and Chongqing but also contributed to helping Sichuan to establish a pilot zone for sports consumption by fostering high-quality events. It injected fresh impetus into Zigong’s goal of building itself as “City of Sporting Events” and achieving high-quality economic and social development.

It is reported that from October to December, Ziliujing District of Zigong will adopt “sports+” as its core development model. Leveraging Zigong’s traditional strengths in diving, rowing and cycling, the district will continue to introduce high-level competitions across various categories while enhancing the national influence of local events such as the “Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-City Circle Cup” Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Contract Bridge Open. Meanwhile, it will actively promote emerging sports like drone soccer and table curling, cultivating new growth drivers in sports consumption. Through diversified integration models including “sports + performances”, “sports + festivals”, and “sports + cuisine”, the district will continuously enrich citizens’ cultural and sports lives, further brightening the city’s image of “Leisure Zigong • Enjoying Sports”.

In recent years, Sichuan and Chongqing have adhered to the strategic guidance of building the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. Since 2021, they have jointly built the “Bashan Shushui • Sports in Sichuan-Chongqing” Sports Tourism and Leisure Consumption Season, fully promoting the integrated and high-quality development of the sports industry in the region.
