On September 29, the Achievement Release Conference of the 13th China (Mianyang) Science and Technology City International High-Tech Expo (hereinafter referred to as the “Tech Expo”) was held. With a focus on the integration of dual-use technologies, the conference not only showcased major achievements in the deep integration of technological innovation and industrial development, but also, through new market-oriented transformation practices, injected fresh scientific and technological momentum into the development of the Chengdu–Chongqing Economic Circle.

At the opening ceremony, a “performance troupe” of 21 Mianyang-made robots became the center of attention. It marked the first time in China that robots of different models from multiple companies performed together on the same stage—from mechanical dance moves to coordinated interaction, culminating in the robots announcing the opening of the expo. The performance highlighted the fusion of “AI + cultural creativity” and demonstrated Mianyang’s strong innovation capabilities.

In terms of exhibition, the 32,000-square-meter exhibition area was divided into specialized sections featuring the 25th anniversary of the Science and Technology City, dual-use technology integration, artificial intelligence, and the low-altitude economy. More than 280 well-known domestic and international companies participated, presenting over 1,000 high-tech products, over 90 percent of which were displayed in physical form on site.

Among them, over 50 debut products—including the “Low-Altitude Guardian” laser weapon, special-purpose quadruped robots, medium- and large-sized drones, and commercial rocket engine test platforms—outlined a vision of innovation in high-end equipment manufacturing and aerospace.

The expo released several key reports and achievements, including Disruptive Technology Foresight (2025), the China Disruptive Technology Industrialization Index, China’s Remote Sensing Satellite Development and International Cooperation, Commercial Space Industry Trends and Policy Empowerment, and the Opportunity List for “Little Giants”. Forty future technologies with the highest breakthrough potential were selected. For the first time, eight advanced dual-use technology products were unveiled collectively, such as the “Horizon” anti-drone system, the full-spectrum, all-weather intelligent monitoring and early warning system of nuclear, biological, and chemical threats, and the “Focus-2” 100-ton liquid oxygen-methane engine. In addition, the event facilitated one-on-one business matchmaking between nearly 3,000 buyers, professionals and exhibitors, and hosted project roadshows, investment and financing matchmaking, and industry technology seminars. A total of 28 industrial cooperation agreements worth 406 million yuan were signed on-site.

At the “Sichuan Investment Promotion Conference on Cluster Development and Industrial Chain Strengthening in China(Mianyang) Science and Technology City & Project Cooperation Agreement Signing Ceremony”, Mianyang released an investment opportunity package for key industrial chains and signed a series of “5-8-7” key industry project agreements. A total of 55 projects were signed, with a combined investment of 27.535 billion yuan. These projects represent not only quantitative expansion but also qualitative improvement. They will strongly drive industrial structure optimization, supply chain collaboration and innovation chain integration, inject new momentum into Mianyang’s “5-8-7” industrial system, and provide solid technological support for the development of the Chengdu–Chongqing Economic Circle.(By Yang Siqi)
