On October 1st, the 2025 Chengdu Open Rowing Regatta kicked off in Xinjin District of Chengdu. Rowing teams from prestigious domestic and foreign universities, including University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Harvard University, Peking University, and Tsinghua University, gathered on the Nanhe River in Chengdu's Xinjin District for the ultimate competition of speed and passion.

As an important international rowing event hosted by the Chinese Rowing Association and the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Sport, this year's event ranks among the top of its kind and is a highly influential water sports event in China during the National Day holiday.

At the opening ceremony, Powerboating performers, holding a giant Chinese national flag, entered the venue pulled by motorboats. Powerboating surfers formed a flotilla in the shape of the national flag, with the people on the shores, jointly expressing full blessings to the motherland. The patriotic enthusiasm in the hearts of tens of thousands of Chinese citizens and tourists was quickly ignited, and they waved the national flags in their hands and joined the "chorus" on both sides of the Nanhe River, showing their deep affection for the motherland with their voices.

According to the competition, this year's event is divided into University Category and Open Category. The races on October 1st consisted of the heats and repechages for the university category, with 14 rowing teams including University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Peking University, and Tsinghua University. The semifinals and finals of the University Category and the finals of the Open Category were held on October 2nd.

The open group was also full of highlights. Rowing club teams from Chengdu, Chongqing, Meishan, and other places all participated in this race, achieving regional linkage and same-field racing between "Chengdu-Chongqing and Chengdu-Deyang-Meishan-Ziyang" areas.

During the event, nine supporting activities were also launched, linking multiple cultural and tourism spots to create a "Sports + Culture and Tourism" feast.
