The 2025 Guangyuan Female Festival and Joyful Culture Week will be held from August 24 to September 1.

Since its inception in 1988, the Guangyuan Female Festival, a traditional folk cultural event with distinctive local features, has been successfully held 36 times, and this year marks its 37th edition. As a cultural symbol that embodies both the charm of tradition and the vitality of innovation, the 2025 Female Festival and Joyful Culture Week will follow the principles of “frugality, security, brilliance, and success.” More than 20 activities have been carefully designed, covering themed events, street performances, cultural and artistic showcases, sports competitions, and economic and trade exchanges. These efforts are designed to present Guangyuan’s cultural allure and development achievements in a comprehensive and multi-dimensional manner.

This year’s Guangyuan Female Festival will continue in the style of Joyful Culture Week, offering visitors more than a week of immersive, all-day experiences across diverse settings. Through classic songs, distinctive dances, intangible cultural heritage performances, and sporting competitions, guests will be invited to feel the warmth and vitality of Guangyuan.

The opening ceremony of this year’s Guangyuan Female Festival and Joyful Culture Week will present vibrant stage performances paired with a parade of colorful boats. By engaging the audience with dynamic stage performances, the ceremony will bring Guangyuan’s cultural heritage to life, including the ShuDao culture, Empress Wu Zetian’s historical legacy, the red culture, and Three Kingdoms traditions.

During the festival, the 2025 China (Guangyuan) International Phoenix Boat Race will feature three international teams and twenty-one domestic teams competing fiercely on the Jialing River, showing the perfect combination of strength and grace. The Serbian National Dance Troupe, which impressed audiences at the 9th International Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage Chengdu, will be invited to participate in the folk culture parade, offering visitors an immersive experience of exotic traditions.
