On June 6, the "Dongpo’s Journey—China’s Cultural Heritage Trail" Urban Segment Achievement Exchange Series opened in Meishan, Sichuan.
The Opening Ceremony
It is reported that "Dongpo's Journey", China's first cultural heritage trail, traces the poet’s life journey through immovable cultural relics. By connecting Dongpo-related heritage sites nationwide, it highlights urban themes while presenting Dongpo’s legacy, stories, and enduring influence. In June 2024, Meishan pioneered its urban segment, revolving around the dual themes of "Home" and "Education" to embody "The Foundation of Life, the Brilliance of Youth."

Spanning 10 provinces and 15 urban units, the trail’s first phase organically connects cultural sites that bear Dongpo’s spiritual imprint, including ancestral shrines, former residences, historic sites, and inscriptions. This initiative enhances heritage conservation while deepening cultural-tourism integration.

The launch featured collaborative activities including the "Three-Su and Ba-Shu" Calligraphy-Painting Exhibition, academic forums, experiential tours, and trail product showcases. Participants shared best practices, solidified consensus, and strengthened momentum for the project.

In the future, cities within "Dongpo’s Journey" will enhance regional collaboration. They aim to deepen cooperation and share resources in cultural research, heritage preservation, tourism development, and public services along the route, establishing a new development model characterized by "cultural leadership, regional synergy, and mutual benefit." Joint efforts will focus on protecting Dongpo's relics and cultural heritage, advancing Dongpo studies, promoting the "Dongpo's Journey" brand, designing tourism itineraries, developing a digital cloud platform, organizing cultural performances, and fostering creative product exchange. The "Journey with Dongpo" aims to become a globally renowned golden route, vividly embodying the profound Chinese cultural spirit of "Read ten thousand books, travel ten thousand miles — expanding wisdom through study and exploration" and "Remaining true to our aspirations, unchanged from start to end".
