On April 30, a vibrant cultural flash mob at Leshan High-Speed Railway Station marked the grand opening of the 2025 May Day Leshan Cultural and Tourism Market, officially launching the city’s “May Day Limited-Time Joy” festivities. This supporting event of the 11th Sichuan International Travel Expo will run through May 5.

This year’s May Day market has been fully upgraded with highlights including captivating displays, fun activities, tasty treats, and diverse shopping options. Through local marketplaces, stage performances, and cultural flash mobs, the event showcases Leshan’s cultural heritage and tourism vitality, aiming to elevate the city as a world-class travel destination.

At the North Gate of the Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area, visitors were delighted by rotating flash mob performances such as Emei martial arts, kung fu tea shows, and clown interactions. Performers engaged warmly with tourists and distributed creative cultural souvenirs, infusing moments of anticipation with surprise and warmth. These flash mob activities will also extend to several city landmarks, including Leshan High-Speed Railway Station, Jiazhou Scroll, and Shangzhongshun Historic Block, featuring Yi ethnic costume parades, street dance performances, and exhibitions of intangible cultural heritage.

The Cultural and Tourism Market at the Jiazhou Scroll Sky Lawn has been bustling with activity. Trending foods, cultural and creative products, and local specialties attract crowds, enhanced by nighttime lighting, outdoor camping, barbecues, and interactive photo spots.
