On April 25, French artist Alice Des’s illustration exhibition “Marée Haute, Marée Basse” debuted at the Chengdu IFS Art Gallery. Featuring 47 gouache paintings, the exhibition captures the essence of France’s northern Opal Coast, transporting visitors through evocative French romantic brushstrokes to its sunlit shores, immersing them in the cultural ethos and lifestyle aesthetics of a midsummer coastal breeze.

Since its inception in 2006, the Croisements Festival (China-France Cultural Spring) has fostered profound artistic and institutional exchanges between the two nations, growing into China’s largest foreign cultural festival and one of France’s most globally impactful cultural events. This year’s edition spans theater, music, dance, visual arts, and cinema, offering 325 cultural events across 62 projects in 31 cities nationwide from April to July, showcasing France’s cultural diversity and creativity.

Notably, the 2025 Croisements Festival will transcend art to engage with global issues. Aligning with the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, France (June 9–13, 2025), “Marée Haute, Marée Basse” also serves as an opportunity to reflect on the ocean’s significance to humanity.

The “Marée Haute, Marée Basse” exhibition will run through June 30. Alice Des will visit Chengdu on May 24 for related events and undertake an artistic residency in Southwest China until June 13.
