On November 29, the Shifang General Aviation Airport in Deyang officially broke ground. This is the second newly built A1-class general aviation airport project in the Chengdu metropolitan area. Once completed and operational by the end of 2026, the airport will provide services such as aircraft testing and trial flights for general aviation production and manufacturing enterprises.

The Shifang General Aviation Airport being built is located in the Shifang Economic Development Zone (Northern District), covering an area of 671.64 mu. It will be constructed according to A1-class general aviation airport standards, with a 2B flight zone. The total investment is approximately 307.9 million yuan. The airport will feature a 1,200-meter-long, 30-meter-wide runway, two vertical connecting taxiways, a 30-slot fixed-wing aircraft parking apron, seven helicopter parking spaces, a 5,332-square-meter hangar, a 4,374-square-meter multi-functional business building, as well as air traffic control, navigational lighting, firefighting, and rescue facilities.
According to reports, the Shifang General Aviation Airport will play a significant role in promoting regional economic development and driving industrial cluster growth. With substantial market potential, rich application scenarios, and abundant cultural, tourism, and industrial resources, Shifang has unique advantages in developing the low-altitude economy. Once the airport is completed, it will not only address local shortcomings in air transport but also contribute to building a large, integrated transportation network and low-altitude takeoff and landing infrastructure for civil aviation, benefiting Sichuan Province and even the whole country.

After the airport’s completion, the low-altitude economic service hub that Shifang will build better serve the certification and trial flight needs of aviation manufacturers in Deyang and Sichuan.
