Recently, the autumn semester of Liuwei Arts Night School in Chengdu's Wenjiang District concluded successfully. Over 400 participants joined the 14 courses offered this term.

To address the needs of working professionals seeking to enhance their skills and hobbies while navigating scheduling conflicts with traditional classes, Wenjiang District introduced the innovative Liuwei Arts Night School. "‘Liuwei,’ meaning ‘reserving a spot,' signifies that our public art classes are always ready to welcome you," explained Lai Yu, director of the Wenjiang District Cultural Center. "The curriculum is richly diverse, spanning more than ten artistic disciplines, including instrumental music, dance, calligraphy, and fine arts."

Ms. Tang, a resident, shared her experience: "Since summer, I've been learning square dancing and cheerleading. These activities have not only boosted my confidence but also brought emotional fulfillment through the sense of accomplishment after mastering new skills."

The Liuwei Arts Night School has also enriched the functions of the Liudeng Book House, a series of 24-hour "libraries at your doorstep" first launched in Wenjiang District in 2022. Today, 28 such book houses dot the district's "golden corners and silver edges," offering residents cozy spaces to enjoy quality reading time. In the first half of 2024 alone, these book houses welcomed over 30,000 visitors. "No matter how late it is, the light here is always on for me," remarked one citizen, encapsulating the warmth these spaces bring to the community.
