On April 8, Longwan Township in Fushun County, Zigong City, hosted its second “Preserving Agricultural Heritage, Jointly shaping a New Rural Landscape” rice transplanting initiation event. Activities such as drone seeding, intelligent mechanical rice transplanting, agricultural skill competitions like rice transplanting contest, and fish-catching battle showcased a vibrant and innovative spring farming scene.

At the competition site, nine professional teams composed of participants from nine villages in Longwan Township began their “battle”. Team members, working in pairs, demonstrated seamless coordination as they swiftly separated seedlings and transplanted them into the fields, highlighting the professional skills of local laborers.

It is reported that Longwan Township is the birthplace of “ratoon rice” in Fushun County. In 2025, the township, in collaboration with Hunan Longping Seed Industry, will establish a high-yield, high-quality demonstration site spanning over 40 mu (approximately 2.67 hectares) in Wuyu Village, focusing on “mid-season rice + ratoon rice” cultivation. This initiative aims to extend and drive a 4,000-mu (approximately 267 hectares) “mid-season rice + ratoon rice” industrial cluster along the Matong Road corridor, further radiating across the township’s total rice planting area of 21,000 mu (approximately 1,400 hectares). In 2025, Longwan Township plans to cultivate over 21,000 mu of high-quality rice, with mid-season rice yields expected to exceed 600 kilograms per mu and ratoon rice yields surpassing 400 kilograms per mu.
