2025 World Power Battery Conference Opens in Yibin, Sichuan

On November 12, the 2025 World Power Battery Conference kicked off in Yibin City, Sichuan Province. The conference focuses on leveraging scientific and technological innovation, improving the power battery industrial chain, and fostering integrated development of related industries. It aims to further promote shared opportunities, complementary strengths, and win-win cooperation, contributing to the high-quality development of the global power battery industry.

Opening Ceremony

The event features a well-designed “1+1+6+N” activity framework. This comprises one opening ceremony, one plenary session, six thematic seminars, and multiple parallel events, including exhibitions. The six thematic seminars primarily cover frontier technologies, new energy storage, recycling and reuse, innovative applications, logistics supply chains, and industrial chain quality improvement. Meanwhile, the exhibitions will showcase applications for cutting-edge technologies such as the low-altitude economy, embodied AI, electric tools, and electric vessels.

Exhibition Corner

During the opening ceremony, Wang Jianxin, Vice Chairman and Executive Secretary-General of the China Battery Industry Association, released five major power battery achievements from 2020 to 2025. These include: innovations in material systems solidifying the foundation for electrification; multi-dimensional breakthroughs in battery performance; system structure innovations unleashing battery energy potential; smart manufacturing empowering industrial efficiency leap; and expanded application boundaries opening diverse power scenarios.

Zhang Jinhua, Standing Committee Member of the China Association for Science and Technology and Chairman of the China Society of Automotive Engineers, outlined eight power battery development trends by 2030. These encompass: material innovations supporting dual evolution towards high energy density and cost-performance; mixed solid liquid batteries transitioning from small-batch application to marketization; all-solid-state batteries achieving technological breakthroughs and industrial demonstrations; power battery intelligence evolving towards integrated internal and external system; the R&D paradigm shifting from “trial-and-error” testing to “intelligent design”; AI-enabled manufacturing advancing towards digitalization, intelligence, and flexibility; power battery recycling and reuse moving from “end-of-pipe treatment” to “full-chain collaboration”; and diversified scenarios expanding the industry’s ecological boundaries.

It is reported that the World Power Battery Conference has been held in Yibin for four consecutive years. It has cumulatively released over 600 new technologies, products, and applications, signed more than 200 major projects with a total investment of nearly 300 billion yuan, and has become an important platform for enhancing mutual understanding and deepening cooperation in the global power battery industry. (By Tang Sijie)
