The opening ceremony of the 20th Western China International Fair is held in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province, on May 25, 2025. Under the theme of "Deepen Reform For More Momentum, Expand Openness for Greater Growth", this year's WCIF introduced a new format featuring dual guest countries of honor (Laos representing Asia and Hungary representing Europe) and dual guest provinces of honor (Zhejiang from eastern China and Qinghai from western China) for the first time. The event has attracted over 3,000 enterprises from more than 60 countries and regions, as well as 27 Chinese provinces.

Focusing on developing new quality productive forces, the WCIF has adopted an innovative three-dimensional exhibition model combining "industrial mapping, leading enterprises, and affiliated enterprises." It will host a series of investment promotion events covering industries such as intelligent equipment, automotive manufacturing, and advanced materials. Additionally, the "WCIE Visits Cities and Prefectures" program will be organized to facilitate business collaboration opportunities. Data shows that this year's WCIF has drawn participation from 114 Fortune Global 500, Fortune China 500, and China's Top 500 Private Enterprises, accounting for 55.6% of total attendees. Notably, 61 Fortune Global 500 companies are participating - a 74.3% increase from the previous fair. A total of 122 enterprises are closely aligned with Sichuan's six pillar industries and 15 key industrial chains, spanning sectors including artificial intelligence, low-altitude economy, modern logistics, biomedicine, and financial services, thereby driving the province's industrial cluster development.
