The Torch “Zhu Meng” of TWG 2025 Chengdu

The shape of the torch “Zhu Meng” is inspired by the bronze standing figure unearthed from the Sanxingdui Site, resembling a tall and upright bamboo stalk. The bamboo, known for its resilience and unyielding nature, reflects the values of unity, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence in sports. It also symbolizes athletes breaking through obstacles like bamboo splitting through the wind. At the top, two gracefully unfurling bamboo shoots extend like open arms, representing an open and inclusive China and a warm, welcoming Chengdu embracing the world.

The torch’s color scheme features a harmonious blend of green and silver. Green represents nature as the foundation of life. Echoing China's commitment to harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature, TWG 2025 Chengdu promotes a green and low-carbon philosophy, with Chengdu’s urban parks seamlessly integrating with the vibrancy of the Games. Silver symbolizes technology, innovation, speed, and momentum, reflecting China's continuous drive toward sustainability and progress in partnership with the world.

Intricate patterns on the torch “Zhu Meng” incorporate the emblem of TWG 2025 Chengdu, as well as the Games' mascots, Shubao (literally “the treasure of Sichuan”) and Jinzai (literally “the baby of Chengdu”), bringing dynamism and vitality to the design. The presence of these mascots signifies that the first-ever World Games torch originates from Tianfu (a historical name for Sichuan). Ancient and mysterious Shu civilization motifs are etched into the torch, embodying the unbroken lineage of Chinese cultural heritage. The torch’s flame outlet is inspired by the Sun Crown of the Bronze Standing Figure excavated from the Jinsha Archaeological Site, symbolizing athletes striving for excellence and victory. The base of the torch features the Sacred Phoenix Bird Pattern from the Sanxingdui Site, conveying the ancient Chinese blessing: “When the phoenix sings, peace prevails across the land.” This reflects a wish for global harmony and prosperity.

At the unveiling ceremony, lead designer Feng Benyuan shared her thoughts: “Transforming elements from Sanxingdui and Jinsha Sites into design features was an unforgettable journey for our team. We feel deeply honored and look forward to witnessing Chengdu’s charm alongside the world.”
