On November 6, the 12th China (Mianyang) Science and Technology City International High-Tech Expo, with the theme "Scientific innovation, New quality productivity and Technology transfor, Opening-up and cooperation" opened in Mianyang.

The 2024 China Urban Science and Technology Innovation Competitiveness Research and report on Disruptive Technology Outlook (2024) were released on-site. The reports show that in terms of science and technology innovation cities, both Chengdu and Mianyang ranked in the top 20, with Chengdu at 8th place and Mianyang at 15th, with both cities seeing steady improvements in their rankings. In terms of science and technology innovation investment, Mianyang's R&D expenditure intensity stands out, ranking high with a 5.85% R&D expenditure intensity. As China's Science and Technology City, Mianyang boasts strong capabilities and industrial advantages in several disruptive technologies, including controlled nuclear fusion, robotics, nuclear medicine, laser displays, and aerospace.

Since its inception in 2013, the Expo has been successfully held for 11 consecutive years. This year's Expo, which focuses on "Technological Innovation" to open new avenues, marks the first time the event has fully adopted a market-oriented approach. The total exhibition area covers 25,000 square meters, with over 150 participating organizations and more than 1,000 "high-tech and cutting-edge" exhibits on display.(by Qin Kang)
